From the President’s Desk: This past year has been a year of many surprises. Upon returning from a South African vacation with my family in January I was armed with the signed agreement between CCBI and SATS. All was set to go with the transfer of students wanting to pursue further studies from CCBI to SATS. CCBI no longer offers post graduate degrees as our concentration now is the Bachelor’s level only. I am pleased to report that we have two students enrolled with SATS and two pending approval. This year has seen a lot of activity from this office and that of the National Directors. We have encountered problems that have been worked through and I am pleased to tell you that the quality of people we have as ND’s is exceptional, and we are proud to have them handling our affairs in the countries we are involved in. We have updated the CCBI website which you can view at www.ccbi.org. Naturally there have been quite a number of hiccups but they have not been insurmountable, and with the LORD’S help and guidance we have managed to straddle them successfully. Some we are still working on. This Office has also seen volunteers helping with renovations and I personally want to take this opportunity to thank them for their help. The offices are nicely organized now, nevertheless, there is still a lot of work left to be done. I believe 2004 will be a year that is going to take off with the help of the Holy Spirit and I am looking forward to see what He does with CCBI. I am taking this opportunity to thank all our faculty who volunteer their time to marking the papers and sending them back to us in a timely manner. I know the students are pleased because this makes an education affordable to them because of your generosity. I know that the student body ALL express a ‘hearty thank you’ to you and to the LORD for your missionary heart. And, a big ‘THANK YOU’ to those who have supported CCBI and myself financially over this past year. It is very much appreciated. It is going to take a lot of people to commit to my personal support for me to achieve the goal of going full-time, however, with the help of the LORD ‘nothing is too difficult for them who believe.’ CCBI has over the past couple of months gone through a tough time financially but I must tell you that if our LORD returned today he would ‘FIND FAITH’ at this office. It is our belief and trust in Him that He who has begun this ministry will continue to provide through His people, that is, YOU! So, if there are some of you out there who are sitting on the fence and wondering who you should support this coming year, please consider this exciting opportunity to BE A PART of the Great Commission that CCBI is fulfilling in the harvest fields of this world. God’s richest blessing for you in 2004, Dr. Rose Please take note of the CCBI new e-mail addresses: Ministry Project Reports: A unique feature of CCBI is the requirement of a specific Ministry Project during each semester of student work. One student explains: “I have been encouraged by the projects. They have been a challenge but also an avenue of assessing my ability to initiate and follow up beneficial programs for my community. I have really made an effort to apply the knowledge received from CCBI. I promise to continue influencing my school, church and division by continuing with other projects.” Kenya: Street children and orphans: Timber, Kariuki and Abongo in separate projects are boldly intervening in the destitute lives of the thousands of children who have been abandoned due to AIDS, poverty, drugs, abuse and delinquency. They offer not only the bare necessities for survival, but counseling, training for employment, and especially a caring friend who is concerned in practical ways for their moral and spiritual lives. Through the leadership of the Holy Spirit, patience, skill, forgiveness, perseverance and dedicated time are resulting in the rescue of many young lives from the evil and dangers of street life. Counseling youth: Kamore, Waweru, Ndee and Odero have each undertaken groups of school children and teens for counseling using such techniques as positive peer pressure and group therapy to prevent and deal with the problems that are destructive in Kenya today. Teens are taught how to spot problems, identify leaders and help each other. HIV/AIDS: Almost every Christian leader in Kenya is involved at some level with the devastation of HIV/AIDS, and many Ministry Projects are concerned with education for prevention and treatment or care and counseling for victims and survivors. Ugandan Grad Sends Thanks Although CCBI does not have a division office in Uganda, Africa, several students have been working independently through the Clearinghouse. One such student, Anglican clergyman Rev. Kosia Murumba, recently e-mailed his appreciation to CCBI through Clearinghouse Director Jan Saunders. “Praise the Lord! Thank you for your help and encouragement to finish my Bachelor Degree Course well. Thank you for sending my Degree Certificate. On December 14, 2003, we had Ordination Service in the Cathedral where we had a very big congregation. My bishop William Magambo, dressed with his academic gown, hat and hood, gave me the degree before the congregation after reading its contents. The congregation was happy to see the success of the Diocesan Dean and the bishop was very happy with my 1st Class Degree.” Readers are urged to pray earnestly for peace in Uganda. Civil war, kidnapping for forced soldiering, ransacking of villages with murder and rape, chopping of body parts and other horrors have been daily fare for the entire lives of many Ugandans under twenty years of age. At the same time the nation has been commended worldwide for its remarkably effective anti-AIDS program. Many Ugandan Christians are deeply committed to living and teaching the peace, love and reconciliation of the gospel of Jesus Christ in spite of deplorable circumstances, and they desperately need our prayers. Thank You: Harry & Jane Camp
