Address to Kenya Grads. When Kenya National Director Peter Nyagrowa officiated CCBK’s 2003 graduation in April, he presented an address from CCBI President Dr. Desmond Rose to the invited guests Hon. Emilio Mwai Kibaki, President of Kenya; Minister of Education Prof. George Saitoti; families and friends of the graduating class, from which the comments below are excerpted. This occasion is the highlight that has come with many a hardship, joy, prayer, and anticipation of this day in your lives that speaks of completeness by having accomplished this goal so few attain. However, it is only the beginning of your adventure that lies ahead of you. Nevertheless, you are prepared to meet your future with confidence knowing that “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.” There are new horizons and challenges that await as you continue to follow the Call of God in your lives. I believe that the education you have received from CCBI will open many doors for you in the future, and you will look back and see the importance of the words of the Apostle Paul to Timothy when he says, “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman who is not ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth” (2 Tim 2:15). Our founder, Dr. Raymond Saunders , also reminds us of the Scriptures that say, “What you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim 2:2). So this is the mandate of CCBI for you to go into all the world and fulfill the Great Commission of our LORD Jesus Christ in whatever ministry he places you. I’m reminded at this point of what Bernard of Clairvaux said about education, “There are those who seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge; that is curiosity. There are those who seek knowledge to be known by others; that is vanity. There are those who seek knowledge in order to serve; that is love.” Time will tell why you increased your knowledge through all the studies you have done up until now and my hope is that it will be ‘in order to serve’ just as Jesus Christ our savior did. The founders and President Emeritus Dr. and Mrs. Raymond Saunders, Provost Dr. Frank Jabini, Vice President Rev. Robert Ridley, faculty and staff of the Caribbean College of the Bible International congratulate you on this tremendous accomplishment today. Dr. Desmond H. Rose B.A. MDiv. D.Min., President, CCBI. Mr. Nyagrowa e-mailed a note of appreciation, “Thank you very much for the speech you sent to us. It showed your commitment to the future of this school. Today’s graduation was the best ever.” Fall Conference from a Board Member’s Perspective

I was honored to be on the
search committee for our fall conference location, along with Bob Ridley,
Ron and Beverly Tyler. We all agreed that our once a year conference
is a most vital part of the success of CCBI especially since our board,
faculty and students are so far flung. |
As Beverly Tyler put it, “Attending a retreat type conference is a personal reward in addition to being so important to the success and growth of CCBI.” I would like to encourage everyone to make plans to attend our Fall Conference in October at Camp Overton. One thing I feel will help us keep our commitment to attend is to make our reservations early. Make a deposit, in other words, invest something and we will be more likely to attend. ~ Bro. Thank You Faithful Contributors Harry & Jane Camp Missions to India Lance and Angella Even returned safely and overflowing with enthusiasm about their evangelistic mission in India in March. Lance reports more than 1,000 decisions for Christ and many physical and spiritual healings. He and Angella thoroughly enjoyed the Indian foods which were so similar to their own favorite foods in Surinam, although others on the team were not so comfortable with the spicy cuisine. Commendations to Trinidad Trinidad students are to be congratulated for using their CCBI education to bless and minister to others. Several recent graduates are moving on toward a masters degree; Hannah Demming, an internationally recognized English instructor, is teaching two CCBI courses even while she is studying herself. One of our graduates is authoring an end-times novel, and most others are ministering in responsible positions as pastors, teachers, missionaries and evangelists. National Director Dr. Kathleen James operates the Trinidad division not only with skill and integrity, but also with amazing patience and diplomacy in her daily administration as she encourages, advises and perseveres to guide her students through their programs. Prayer & Praises On Wednesday April 23rd, Dr. Saunders had an accident with his riding lawnmower when he and the mower flipped off the roadside of their circle drive and rolled all the way down the 20 foot or so embankment to land on the trail below. Jan was at the CCBI office at the time, but their two dogs woke Dr. Saunders up by licking his face and whining frantically. He walked up the steps to the house and phoned Jan. After a very lengthy cleaning and first aid process, they decided to take him for x-rays the next morning. He has a chipped right femur, broken rib in the back, a concussion and lots of abrasions. They will go to the orthopedist to see what must be done about the chipped bone, and to see if there is a torn rotary cuff. As Jan said, “When we think about how much more horrible it could have been we are extremely grateful. Pray for a quick recovery and slow-growing grass!” |
