From the Desk of the President ~

Greetings from a freezing Missouri:

Thanks for the prayers that went up for us while in South Africa. It was a wonderful time for the family and all the next of kin. My mother is doing just fine although paralyzed down the left side, nevertheless, this has not dampened her spirit and she is still testifying about Jesus to all the nursing staff that assist her from the bed to the chair everyday. She has to be spoon fed and most of the food is of a liquid nature. The sister-in-charge (nursing staff) said that my mom has accepted her situation and is quite content with it, which is amazing because she was always on the go.

Now about the business of SATS. The meeting went off very well and they are all looking forward to being involved with us as we with them. I found their facility very modest and they had the latest technology at their fingertips. The meeting lasted about one hour and then they took me for a tour of the facility. I met with the Principal, Dr. Chris Peppler; Vice Principal, Dr. Reuben van Rensburg; and the Registrar, Jenny Mason.

My work as a master electrician has me outdoors most days, so I really appreciate any warm prayers that are sent my way!

His Disciple,
Dr. Rose

Any suggestions about the length of the conference, meals and program would be appreciated.

CCBI in Uganda

Although Uganda does not have an official division of CCBI, several students have been studying independently from Kenya’s neighboring country in East Africa. Dr. Frank Jabini mentored Pastor Willard Sichilima through his Master of Ministries degree which culminated with a thesis e-mailed to Dr. Jabini, followed by the final publication which elicited these comments when it passed through the Clearinghouse: “I have received a beautifully bound copy of Sichilima’s thesis entitled Romans 11:32: All Israel Will Be Saved. The cover is a full page laminated full-color representation of Jesus with arms outstretched, receiving many people of all cultures approaching Him from across the globe. The contents within are skillfully done with a computer, including footnotes and a very lengthy bibliography, maybe 60 or 70 titles.” Although Dr. Jabini pointed out some areas for improvement he concluded this was a great work, deserving grade A.

In recent newsletters prayer was requested for teachers Bob Ridley and Frank Jabini. Margaret reports from Bob, “He had to go to the heart doctor to be cleared to work in his new job, and he got the very best of news. The doctor told him that everything was just as good as when they checked it in 1999, and at that time he told him that it was just as good as when they put the stent in him in 1996! So essentially all the pain that he has been having is due to stress and lack of exercise. I think it has been a great relief for him to know that he is not any worse. He was sure that the arteries had blocked again, and of course all that worry caused more pain!”

Bro. Frank reports that he has been feeling much better since an especially demanding schedule after which “my body refused its normal duty”.

Rev. Myron Anderson, long-time friend of CCBI for whom many have prayed, was released from 16 years of prison this month. He would love to hear from you at his new address at Route 2, Luling Texas 78648. How thankful he is to be in the free world with his children and grandchildren.

Former Belize ND Jeff Nickell, who was saved while in a Texas prison many years ago, is rejoicing as Chaplain of the Belize National Prison to implement a Chuck Colson Bible teaching and mentoring program from Prison Fellowship. Jeff says, “For the first time in the history of Belize, they are trying to do something to break the revolving door problem. I am excited about it and know it will work if the guys allow the Lord to change their hearts. It worked for me, why not them too?”

Rev. and Mrs. Charley Winder of Robbinsville, NC have prayed for these and many other requests from CCBI during many years of a beautiful prayer ministry. Even though he has been profoundly disabled physically, he has been a spiritual Samson together with his beloved Dolly. Recent complications have him in a nursing home now, but she is praising God that she still has him. Please pray for this precious couple.

A couple of months ago a request went out for volunteer faculty at Kenya’s April graduation and seminar classes; recently two teachers, unknown to each other, have responded. Praise the Lord! Andrew Lovins of Dexter, Missouri has expressed an interest in this trip, as has Dr. Cindy (Mrs. Dale) Walker of Sparta. Below is her message to the Kenya National Director.

Dear Bro. Peter Nyagrowa,

Greetings in the name of Jesus, our soon coming King! As CCBI’s Dean of Faculty I would like to be present for Kenya’s upcoming graduation in April. If it is possible I would like to make arrangements with you to come. I am willing to come a week early and teach a seminary class. If you could, let me know what dates I should arrive and depart and if it will be feasible for you to arrange where I could stay and locate a place for me to teach. I have prayed about coming and I want to meet many of the students. I do not want to inconvenience you in any way but if you will let me know if this can work I will go ahead and purchase my ticket ( at my own expense.) Waiting to hear from you.

Dr. Cindy Walker
CCBI Instructor

Flying to Kenya is a long and expensive trip, in addition to the preparation and teaching of CCBI courses to students of a different culture and dialect. Please keep these two dedicated teachers in your prayers during the coming weeks.
