From the President's Pen:

Dear Friends and Family of CCBI,

I trust this month’s newsletter finds you well and prospering in the Lord. Please be aware that I pray for you everyday. I indeed count it a privilege to hold your name up to heaven on a daily basis.

We had a wonderful time at the annual fall conference. The weather was typical for fall in Tennessee. It was warm one day and cold and rainy the next. We had a wonderful turnout. The preaching and singing were awesome the entire weekend.

I wish to thank the board for giving of their time to come and conduct the business of CCBI. Thanks also go out to Mary Sharples, (my mother), for preparing the food for us. We ate like kings. Thanks to Wayne and Jan Hawkins for driving all the way from Missouri to do the music. And lastly, thanks to the Lighthouse Christian Camp for allowing us to use their facilities. We are truly blessed to have been allowed to come to this beautiful camp. We thank them for generosity.

This brings me to another point. The camp directors have informed us that it will not be possible for us to use the camp in the future in the month of October. Please stay tuned to this newsletter for further information as to where we will be meeting next October. We will keep you posted as soon as we can so you can make your plans.

God has given us several new professors in the past few months. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome them to the CCBI family and let them know that God is going to use their faithfulness to touch many lives in the Kingdom. We have recently had some of our faculty return work ungraded with no explanation. I understand that there are going to be times when people will need to be released from their responsibilities with CCBI. However, I ask you to please give us one month notice so we can find someone to replace you. Also, just a quick reminder to not hold the course work too long. Thank you for all you have done for CCBI. We love you very much. We could not do this without you!

Praising Yah,
Dr. Bill Sharples

Fall Confrence 2001

Dr. Bill Edmonds, our Dean of Seminary, and an instructor, kept everyone laughing at his amusing anecdotes. Dr. Bill Sharples’ enthusiasm and good humor kept the conference moving along toward “Higher Ground”. That song became the theme of the conference as Dr. Sharples encouraged us to move the College and our personal spiritual lives toward higher ground.

Enjoying fellowship after one of our delicious meals is Dr. Ray Saunders, Margaret and Bob Ridley. OK, everyone, I showed you my picture (and it is not that good!), so let me see yours! If we will share more of ourselves in this newsletter, we will become a closer family. The conference is the highlight of the year and it is for all of you! Make your plans to be there next year!

PLEASE PRAY:

One of our instructors, Rev. Ron Nordan, a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy, was deployed on September 12. His wife doesn’t know his location and prayers are needed for him and the situation that sent him there. Please pray also that God will provide another instructor to serve in his place.

We were so blessed to have Dr. Franklin Jabini with us from Suriname at the conference. Dr. Jabini is the Academic Vice President and also an instructor. Mrs. Maudie Wright and Mrs. Jan Saunders, both board members and instructors, are enjoying a few minutes with Dr. Jabini.
There were many others, whose pictures were not available, who also attended and participated in the conference. Our thanks to everyone who made the Fall 2001 Conference a huge success. The singing, messages, and food, both spiritual and physical, were all awesome. If you have never been to the conference, you don’t know what you are missing! Look here for more pictures next month!

We Need Instructors:

Dr. Cindy Walker blessed us with an inspiring message. Cindy is our Dean of Faculty, and she would appreciate anyone who has a sound background in education or theology and would like to volunteer as CCBI teachers, to write or email her for more information:
