The seminary division of CCBI Ltd offers two graduate degrees - The Master of Religious Education (MRE) and the Doctor of Biblical Studies. The Master of Religious Education is a sixty four semester hour program which leads to the DBS. The Doctor of Biblical Studies is forty semester hours above a four semester Master Program. Master Degree A Bachelor Degree or equivalent (128 semester hours) from an approved Bible School is required for the Masters program.Completion of the MRE degree qualifies a student to enter the Doctoral program. Doctoral Program Prerequisite to entering the Doctor of Biblical Studies program is a Master Degree of 64 credits minimum. The Doctoral program is a challenging, definitive study of the entire Bible from Genesis through Revelation. Master of Religious Education (M.R.E) The M.R.E. degree program is a professional degree consisting of 64 semester hours of credit, whose purpose is to provide an educational experience equipping the student for a career in the field of Ministry. After completion of the program, the student should have attained the following: The ability to discuss the meaning of the basic documents (Scripture, creeds, systems or order, etc.) and heritage of the religious community in which ministry is intended. The ability to communicate through preaching, teaching, writing, or other appropriate ways. The ability to design and implement forms of ministry and leadership suitable for particular situations. The skills to adequately teach and train others in the field of theology, both from the pulpit and in the classroom. The ability to research and discover theological concepts, and to use
them in a more effective preaching and teaching ministry. Doctor of Biblical Studies The Doctor of Biblical Studies (D.B.S.) at Caribbean College of the Bible International and Theological Seminary is an innovative program designed to develop one as a life-long student and scholar of the Word of God. It is a forty semester-hour program designed for a practical approach and application. The Doctoral candidate is required to demonstrate competence in a variety of disciplines through projects, research and a 30,000 word dissertation. The dissertation will be the culmination of the student's entire program of study. This is a scholarly paper presenting the student's complete knowledge, theories and practical approach of a given topic. Two bound copies are required. There will be no credit given in semester hours for this dissertation. Lecture (tapes), commentary assignments and/or research projects are included, with examinations over lectures and/or the commentary portion of study. In some courses there will be an additional textbook with appropriate assignments. All work for a particular course is to be completed and returned for grading at the same time. The Doctoral program is designed for a two year duration with four blocks of 12 semester hours each. This is considered a full load due to the intensity of the study program. However, it is conceivable that a student can complete the course in less time. Should a student not be able to finish the course of study in two years, he/she may request additional time. A grade point average of 3.0 (B) is required for all candidates for the D.B.S. program. The Doctor of Biblical Studies differs from more recent programs, in that it stresses what is right about the Bible, rather than what is wrong. This course is designed to build a strong spiritual life within the student. While there are a number of textbooks, taped lectures and teaching guides for this degree, the major textbook will be the Bible throughout the curriculum. Advanced Requirements A Master's Degree consisting of a minimum of 64 semester credit hours from an approved school. Formal application with a recent close-up photo. A formal transcript from all colleges attended previously. All students who did not receive a Master's Degree from CCBI may be
required to take necessary pre-requisite courses on the CCBI Master
Degree level before entering the Doctoral Degree level. This will be
determined when transcripts are received. |
